June 2023 empowerment

by | Jun 16, 2023 | Health, Our Projects, Visits

Food empowerment at the Oji River Settlement.

In June, we have successfully distributed different food supply to the settlement. Many have benefited with bags of rice, bags of beans, bags of garri, cartons of vegetable oil, sack of onions, sack of crayfish, cartons of maggi, cartons of sachet tomatoes and powdered milk.

Three of the elderly were given cash and different food supply.

We were also able to pay for medication, medical supplies, doctor and nurse visits.

Trading/Sustainability Empowerment

Mrs. Ebere has opened her second provision shop, allowing her to manage the new establishment near their home while her husband oversees their previous shop. This arrangement ensures convenient childcare for their children.

Mrs Augustina Ogaranya, a dedicated mother of five and the devoted wife of a visually impaired man, is embarking on her new venture—a corn business. With the support of JCW, she has been equipped with essential resources including a pot, a wheelbarrow, and the necessary capital to initiate her corn-purchasing operations.

Mr. Paul Ndubuise, a 20-year-old orphan, currently resides with his sick aunt in the settlement. Unfortunately, he experienced the loss of his twin brother and subsequently was released from his apprenticeship after six years of dedicated service. Regrettably, his former master faced financial difficulties in his business as a result Mr. Ndubuise was discharged without any settlement. However, thanks to the provisions offered by the empowerment program, Mr. Ndubuise has been given the opportunity to embark on a one-year training program in Nsuka, focusing on tiling and P.O.P. installations. It is worth noting that all necessary fees, including accommodation, agreement, and greeting items, have been fully taken care of. This was made possible by Jael Christian Women (JCW).

Further Empowerment Request: Sewing Machine/Shop

Chinaza, an aspiring tailor seeking JCW empowerment, requires a sewing machine to kickstart her work after her one-year tailoring training.

Her request for assistance in acquiring a sewing machine is aimed at empowering her to pursue her passion and establish herself in the field of tailoring.
